Dua for Traveling
Quran 43:13-14
سُبْحَانَ الَّذِي سَخَّرَ لَنَا هَذَا وَمَا كُنَّا لَهُ مُقْرِنِينَ وَإِنَّا إِلَى رَبِّنَا لَمُنقَلِبُونَ
Transliteration
Subhanalladhi sakhkhara lana hadha wa ma kunna lahu muqrinin wa inna ila rabbina lamunqalibun.
Meaning
Glory is to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could not have done it by ourselves, and surely to our Lord we will return.
Context
This supplication is recited when starting a journey or when mounting a vehicle such as a car, bus, train, or plane. It acknowledges that Allah is the One who has made transportation possible for us and reminds the believer that ultimately everyone will return to Allah. The Prophet ﷺ used to recite this dua when beginning a journey.
Benefits
Reciting this dua before or at the start of a journey reminds the believer that all means of transportation are controlled by Allah. It instills humility, gratitude, and awareness that every journey is under Allah’s protection and that ultimately every person will return to Him.
