Al-Fatiha (The Opening)

Quran 1:1-7

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ صِرَاطَ الَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ

Transliteration

Al-hamdu lillahi rabbi al-'alamin ar-rahman ar-rahim malik yawm ad-din iyyak na'budu wa iyyak nasta'in ihdina as-sirat al-mustaqim sirat alladhina an'amta 'alayhim ghayra al-maghdub 'alayhim wa la ad-dallin

Meaning

All praise is due to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we turn to for help. Guide us to the Straight Path - the path of those whom You have favored, not those who have incurred Your anger, nor those who are astray.

Context

This is the opening chapter of the Quran and is recited in every unit of prayer. It should be recited with proper understanding and reflection on the meanings. Every Muslim learns this dua from childhood.
